Guest sharpy Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 hi room, suggestions wanted here as this problem i have with my car is doing my head in. went into the garage as the tracking wasnt right, i had the bottom ball joint renewed and they told me the tracking was correct when i fetched the car last night the steering wheel was still off centre so took it back to the garage i had it from but cant see the mechanic untl tuesday due to the hols, would it be that they hadnt tracked it after the new part or could it be something else thats throwing it off thanks sharpy Quote
Masked Marauder Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 They most likely failed to center the steering wheel when it was tracked, or they do not do tracking off the rear wheels. Quote
seatkid Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 They didn't do it correctly. They are supposed to fix the steering in the straight ahead position and retrack both sides. They took the lazy option because they changed the tie rod/joint on one side only and only adjusted that side. Take their claims of "accurate" tracking adjustment with a pinch of salt. Quote
